Conrad E. Knox
PERU -- Conrad E. Knox, 78, died on July 17, 2011 at his residence on the Ridge Road in Peru.
Born in Peru on April 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Lester and Alice (Conrad) Knox. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford with the Class of 1951.
He worked as a pipe fitter at the Oxford Paper Company retiring from Boise Cascade after 40 years in June of 1991. He worked as a volunteer Fireman in Peru for over 60 years and most of those years as Assistant Chief.
He was a member and past president of the Peru Historical Society and was also a beekeeper. He was married in Mexico on April 1, 1956 to Nancy A. Burke, who survives of Peru.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kari Waterhouse and her husband, Joey of Canton, and Kim Knox and her companion, Lennie Gregory of Winchester, NH; a son, Kevin Knox and his wife, Wanda of Peru; a sister, Bernice Knox of Portland; grandchildren, Joshua Waterhouse, Jill Waterhouse and her companion, Matt Wyatt, Heidi Waterhouse, Amanda Conway and companion, Shannon Morton, Debbie and Nick Chamberlain; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. at Thursday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 116 Penobscot St., Rumford with Rev. Timothy Parsons officiating. Interment will be in the Demerritt Cemetery, Peru. Friends are invited to call at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
