Madeline E. “Maddy” Lauzier
WEST PARIS -- Madeline E. “Maddy” Lauzier, 89, daughter of William and Pearl Curtis, founder and operator of Maddy’s Pizza and Sandwich Shop in Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2012 while residing at the Ledgeview Senior Care Center, with her loving family by her side.
She was born Madeline E Curtis in Waltham, MA on December 3, 1922. She married Norman “Skippy” Lauzier, who predeceased her on July 4, 2000.
Maddy was an avid fan of the Celtics and Red Sox teams. She enjoyed playing bingo with many of her friends for so many years. She was always the best cribbage player in the room.
She is survived by her seven children, Martha Judkins and her companion, Bob Boyle of Peru, Patricia Leavitt and her husband, Mark of Newburgh, Kerry Judkins and his wife, Anita of Naples, FL, Randy Judkins and his companion, Sabrina Nickerson of Portland, Ann Cullens and her husband, Andy of Rumford, Norma Arsenault and her husband, Greg of Mexico, and Normand C. Lauzier, Jr. of Rumford; her brother, Robert Curtis and his wife, Rena of Ellsworth; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Mervin, Leon and William Curtis; and her sister, Geneva Garrett.
The family wants to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at both the Rumford Hospital and Ledgeview in West Paris.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at SG Thibault Funeral Home, 250 Penobscot St. Rumford. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at SG Thibault Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Madeline’s memory may be made to the Beacon Hospice, 245 Center St., Suite 10A, Auburn, ME 04210.
