Frances Duguay Martin
CONCORD, NH -- Frances Duguay Martin, 85, of Boscawen, NH, formerly of Dickvale Road in Peru, died on Sept. 18, 2011 in Concord, NH.
She was born in Rumford on Dec. 7, 1925, daughter of James and Angelina (Gallant) Duguay. She attended Rumford schools and Stephens High School.
On Nov. 28, 1942, she married Edmond Martin of Mexico. They moved to Peru in 1949 and had eight children before moving to Boscawen.
Frances enjoyed cooking and worked next to her husband when they had an opportunity to manage Mary's Diner (Mary Martin) in Ridlonville. In later years, she assisted her sister, Lennie, in The Palace Restaurant in Penacook.
She generously shared recipes with family and friends and was an inspiration to her many children and grandchildren as they learned traditional Acadian meals and in turn contributed game and fish to the platter.
In their elder years, Fran and Ed spent long winters bird watching and telling tall tales of fishing, hunting and camping experiences. Ed passed over on Dec., 2008.
Survivors include sisters, Lennie Breau of Concord, NH, Pat Veillette of Shelton, CT, brother, Joe Duguay of Westbrook, Dorina (Martin) Bernard and husband, Olin, Dot (Martin) Bernard and husband, Eddie, Annie (Martin)
Papsadora, all of Rumford, Alice (Martin) Ceronowitz and spouse, Ben of Florida; very special friend and sister-in-law, Gert (Ferland) Martin; children, Sheila Stohl of Boscawen, NH, Maria Gifford and husband, Roger of Millinocket, Linda Berke and husband, Rick of Stratham, NH, Joe Gurney and husband, Tom of Hanover, Jim Martin and wife, Diana of Danforth, Becky O'Neil of Northwood, NH, and David Martin and wife, Lisa of Newton, NH; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Ed; brother, Chet; daughter, Trish Smole; brothers-in-law, Husky and Pepper Martin and wife, Eleanor (Blanchard).
