SCARBOROUGH -- Linda E. Mercier, 65, of Scarborough, went to Heaven on October 3, 2012 after a short stay at Maine Medical Center.

Born in Rumford on Oct. 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Earle R. and Bella M. Stone. Linda graduated from Mexico High School in 1964.

She married the late Larry L. Mercier in 1965. In 1966 they had a daughter, Bobbilyn and she became a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was happily married 23 years to Larry until he passed away in 1988.

Linda touched all who knew her, and had many wonderful friends that cared deeply about her. She had a deep Christian faith that carried her through a 32-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Before being diagnosed with MS, she enjoyed many outdoor activities like skiing, playing softball, swimming, ice-fishing with Larry, and walking on the beach. She especially loved Kettle Cove, and was able to go there many times in the recent past. Linda had a way of always finding the sun, even on the coldest of winter days. She also enjoyed listening to music.

Linda was an inspiration, reminding us that Family, Friends, and Faith are what is really needed to live a happy fullfilled life.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Bobbilyn, and husband, Barry; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anna, and Johnathan; four brothers, Earle R. Stone, Jr. of Boca Raton FL, Wallace Stone and his wife, Mary of Dallas, TX, James Stone and his wife, Caroline of Rangeley, and Gerald "'Jerry" Stone and his wife, Sally of Dixfield.
