LEWISTON -- Kevin John Murphy, 57, of Mexico passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 9, 2013 at the Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in June 11, 1955 in Rumford to John and Glennis (Burnham) Murphy. Kevin grew up in Dixfield where he attended Dirigo High School.

He worked for the Diamond Match Company, Maine DOT, Cianbro and Bancroft.

Kevin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed four wheeling, fishing, camping and smelting. He enjoyed his family time and could usually be found spending time with his grandchildren or visiting friends telling jokes or having fun.

He also served his community for 20 years as a member of the Dixfield Fire Department.

Kevin is survived by his life partner, Kim Dyment of Mexico; a son, Jamie Murphy of Canton; two daughters, Leander Murphy of Mexico, and Jeanny Overdorf and husband, Christopher of Peru; a brother, Scott Murphy and wife, Cindy of Dixfield; a sister, Valarie Scott and husband, William Sr. of Anthony, TX; three granddaughters, Abagail Dawson of Peru, Madison Dawson of Peru and Brenna Daigle of Mexico; two grandsons, Thomas and Kevin Overdorf of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his mother, Glennis (Burnham) Murphy of Dixfield, and his father, John Erwin Murphy of Peru.

A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dixfield Nazarene Church. There will be a potluck get together after the service. Everyone is welcome to bring a dish and some stories about Kevin.
