Pearl Delano Powell
POWNAL -- Pearl Delano Powell, 89, of Durham, NC left her earthly home on December 9, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Pownal. She was surrounded by her loving family and was immediately welcomed into the presence of the Lord.
Pearl was born in Mexico on January 24, 1922, daughter of Julian and Priscilla Atwater Delano. She had recently returned to Maine after living in North Carolina for 25 years.
She was a homemaker most of her life and spent a great deal of time praying for and encouraging her four children, nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pearl was an active member of Bible Baptist Church in NC. She had a tremendous ability to make people feel “welcome” in her home and used this gift of hospitality for others. She was affectionately known as “Miss Pearl” by her friends in North Carolina.
Mrs. Powell is predeceased by her loving husband, Wilbur Powell. Surviving is her son, Bill Powell of Penacook, NH; three daughters: Sandy Shatney of Pownal, Ruth Perry of Lincoln and Brenda Gatti of Durham, NC; and a sister, Marjorie Shaw of Dixfield.
Burial will take place at a later date at Farrington Morton Cemetery in Mexico.
