Pauline M. Robichaud
RUMFORD -- Pauline M. Robichaud, 102, of Rumford, died on May 14, 2013 at the Rumford Hospital.
Pauline was born in Dixfield on December 13, 1910, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Frost and Jessie Bonney Frost. She graduated from Dixfield High School with the Class of 1930.
She worked for Diamond International Corporation in West Peru in the clothes pin production department for many years until retirement. She also co-owned and operated P & J Ceramics of Peru for many years.
Pauline was just awarded the “Remember Me" plaque. The Rumford Community Home had chosen Pauline to enter the annual “Remember Me” program held by the Maine Health Care Association. She was one of 44 entrants throughout the state and received honorable mention, receiving a plaque at the State House in Augusta on April 12.
She was the oldest resident in the Rumford Community Home and was one of the most active. She read the daily newspaper and did the crossword puzzle each day, knitted and crocheted and wrote letters to family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved to play bingo, attended weekly Catholic Mass, and was a member of the Resident Council, made items for the annual craft fair and would occasionally play the piano. She made several jigsaw puzzles that are now hanging in the dining room.
Pauline was a Communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church; a member St. Joseph’s Guild; a member of Rockemeka Grange. Pauline loved spending time with her family.
She was married in Mexico on November 23, 1931 to J. Anthony Robichaud, who died in Lewiston on November 10, 1983.
Survivors include daughters, Lorraine Legere of Peru and Virginia “Ginny” Palmer of Shawmut; a son, John A. Robichaud and wife, Patti of Jay; 17 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son, James Robichaud; daughter, Marie Suzanne Robichaud; three brothers, Harold, Oscar and Grover Frost, Jr.; and two sisters Emily Degerstrom and Frances Frost.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at St. John Cemetery, Rumford. Those who desire, please contribute to the Patient Fund, c/o Rumford Community Home, 11 John F. Kennedy Lane, Rumford, ME 04276 in her memory.
