Joan Augusta Tucker
RUMFORD/HANOVER -– Joan Augusta Tucker, 78, passed away on July 8, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at Market Square Health Care Canter in South Paris.
She was born on September 12, 1932 in Norway. As a young girl, she spent many happy memorable times with her Grammy and Grandpa Pride on Pikes Hill and her Grammy and Grandpa Jackson at Green Elms. She attended Norway schools graduating from Norway High School in 1950 where she was active in girls basketball, drama club, cheerleading, archery and many other activities.
On October 28, 1950, she married the love of her life, Allison Eugene Tucker. Together, they had four children: Jeffrey, Carrie Ellen, Dori and Bethany.
She had many hobbies including reading poetry, antiquing, music and spending time in her garden but most of all spending time with her loving family.
During her life, she held many jobs in various positions including: research lab analyst at Oxford Paper, selling Avon, driving school bus for the NOVA School program, Real Estate Agent and C.N.A. at Cozy Inn Nursing Home in Rumford.
After the loss of her husband, she converted their home to a B & B; The Last Resort, at Rumford Corner until 2003.
She was predeceased by her husband Allison; daughter, Carrie Ellen; mother, Eva Allen; father, Eugene Pride; step-mother Ruth Pride, step-father Melvin Allen and brother Abner Pride Allen.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Tucker and his wife, Debra; daughter, Dori Gallagher and husband, Ralph; daughter, Bethany Giberson and husband, Neal; and her grandchildren, Ralph Allison Gallagher, Melissa Lynn Carlberg, Gretchen Marie Tucker, Jacob Jeffrey Tucker, Kayla Mae Giberson, and Tori Anne Giberson; great-grandson, Dawson Alan Carlberg; three brothers, Ira Allen, Eugene Price and Willian Pride; and five sisters, Nancy Jordan, Gloria Dorey, Karen Goodwin, Trudy Durgin, Rhonda Tibbetts and Ruth Upton.
We love you to the moon and back and we will miss you every day. You were our glue.
There will be a celebration of her life at the Universalist Church at 479 Main St. in Norway at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Beacon Hospice Services, 55 Lisbon St., Suite 2600, Lewiston, ME 04240, or the Norway Universalist Church, 479 Main St., Norway, ME 04268 in her memory.
