Dora D. Wagnis
RUMFORD -– Dora D. Wagnis, 95, of Spruce Street, Rumford, died on April 19, 2011 at the Rumford Hospital.
She was born in Rumford on March 10, 1916, a daughter of Charles and Dora (Stangvila) Drakus. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford Class of 1934.
Dora had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. George Dyer in Rumford for several years and then during WWII she worked at Thorn Bleach Laboratory at Oxford Paper Company in Rumford.
Dora was a Communicant of St. Athanasius-St John Church. She especially enjoyed working in her garden.
She was married in Rumford on May 18, 1935 to Anthony P. “Hornet” Wagnis, who died in Rumford on November 24, 1991.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Patricia Wagnis and friend, Lynn Belensky of Delray Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; sisters, Violet and Sophie Drakus; and a brother, Walter Drakus.
A special thanks to her caregivers Ruth and Chet White and her dear friend Charlene Farrell and family, and to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
