FARMINGTON -- Mildred “Millie” (Comeau) Wood, 84, of Farmington passed away on Jan. 22, 2013, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center and joined her beloved husband, Bobby.

Millie was born in Mexico on May 27, 1928 to the late Leo and Hilda (Willoughby) Comeau. She received her education in the Dixfield and Rumford schools. After school, Millie went to work at the Oxford Paper Co. as a sorter and then moved on to waitressing, which she did for many years.

On July 30, 1955, she married her beloved Robert “Bob” Wood. They were married for 55+ years before his passing on May 13, 2011.

Millie was able to travel up and down the east coast, meeting many great people along the way. She had such a wonderful personality, touching the lives of so many with her kind and caring ways and her sense of humor. To some, Millie was even known as the “Brownie Lady.”

For years she made brownies for the doctors’ offices and even her car mechanic. Millie very much enjoyed her crafts. She enjoyed specialty knitting, making dolls, beadwork and anything else that she could get her hands on.

Millie is survived by her step children, Sharon Wood of Newington, CT, David Wood and wife, Sandra of Lisbon; her sister, Edna

Mace of Wilton; her brother, Richard Comeau; her half-brothers, Donald Comeau and wife, Claudia, and Allen Comeau; her half-sister, Theresa Comeau; her nieces, Debbie Swett of Dixfield, Pamela Denton of Florida and a special niece, Janice Bullen of New Sharon; her nephew, Randy Comeau of Colorado; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Bob” Wood; her stepson, Robert Wood; her parents; and her brother, Arthur Comeau.

Millie wished to express her sincere heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Beacon Hospice and Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center where she had resided since March 16, 2011. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May Millie and her Bobby rest in peace.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
