Funeral services held for Rev. Raymond “Moots” P. Carignan, SSJ
RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Rev. Raymond “Moots” P. Carignan, SSJ, was celebrated on August 29, 2013 at Parish of the Holy Savior.
The Very Rev. William L. Norvel SSJ was the principal celebrant. Concelebrants were Msgr. Francis J. Scollen, Fr. Joseph Begay, SSJ, Fr. Richard Wagner, SSJ, Fr. John Madden, Fr. Gregory Dube, Fr. Alfred Jacques, and Fr. Philip Tracy; assisting were Deacon Gerald L. Norris, Deacon Robert Devine, and Deacon Dennis Popadak.
Mark Belanger was the organist accompanied by the choir. Music selection prior to the mass was What a Wonderful World, during the mass music selections were Let There Be Peace On Earth, You Are Mine, Amazing Grace, and J’irai la voir un jour. At the conclusion of the mass everyone sang God Bless America, and the priests sang Salve Regina.
The Old Testament was proclaimed by grandniece Kate Flaherty. The New Testament was proclaimed by grandniece Michelle Carignan. Prayer of the Faithful was offered by Deacon Robert Devine. Offertory Gifts were presented by grandniece Patti Daigle and grandniece Sarah LaPerle. The Homily was given by Rev. Richard Wagner, SSJ. Personal reflections were shared by grandnephew Nicholas Gill.
Commander Dane Curato, 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, served as honor guard.
Interment was in St. John Cemetery. Committal Prayers were offered by Fr. Richard Wagner, SSJ.
Pallbearers were nephew Dr. Peter Carignan, nephew Paul Carignan, grandnephew Evan Flaherty and grandnephew Adam LaPerle. A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella was in the parish hall.
Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.
