Barbara Gubis Day
BATH -- Barbara Gubis Day of Oliver Street was diagnosed with cancer on April 19, 2004 and fought a long and courageous battle until her passing away on March 21, 2011.
She was born in Rumford on July 15, 1949, a daughter of Charles A. and Olive (Freeman) Gubis Sr.
Barbara graduated from Stephens High School in the Class of 1968 and the Auburn Maine School of Commerce in 1970. She married her beloved husband, Clayton, on May 10, 1975. Upon graduating from college, she was employed at the Assessor Office for the Town of Rumford for five years before moving to Bath in 1976.
During the 80's, Mrs. Day was employed for the Salvation Army and during the 90's for Northwood Court Apartments.
Mrs. Day was a member of the board of Merrymeeting AIDS Support Services, the Cosmopolitan Club in Bath, a member of the Cookie Cutters Collectors Club and a volunteer at the Bath Soup Kitchen.
Mrs. Day is survived by her husband, Clayton Day of Bath; several nieces and nephews; and six God-children.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Charles A. Gubis, Jr. on February 1, 1995.
Mrs. Day would like to be remembered for loving her beloved husband and her passions for her cats and cookie cutters.
