Funeral services held for Robert J. “Bob” Gallant
RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Robert J. “Bob” Gallant was celebrated on February 1, 2013 at Parish of the Holy Savior.
Fr. Raymond Picard was the celebrant. Jeremy Myles was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.
Prior to the mass, granddaughter Riley Gray played Amazing Grace on the violin.
Music selections were Be Not Afraid, Ave Maria, and Fly Like a Bird, Wind Beneath My Wings and Because the Lord Is My Shepherd. The Old Testament was proclaimed by niece Kim Gallant. The New Testament was proclaimed by sister-in-law, Bev Gallant. Offertory Gifts were presented by great-nieces, Victoria Averill and Nikole Breau. Personal reflections written by daughter Heidi Gray were read by son-in-law Dan Gray and Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant.
Pallbearers were Chief James Theriault, Mexico Police; Sheriff Wayne Gallant, Oxford County Sheriff’s Dept; Captain Christopher Wainwright, Oxford County Sheriff’s Dept.; and Lt. Roy Hodsdon, Mexico Police Dept.
Police Honors were rendered by Mexico Police Dept. and Explorers, Rumford Police Dept., Dixfield Police Dept., Oxford County Sheriff’s Dept., and Maine State Police.
Going Home and Amazing Grace were played by bagpiper Rob Simmons from the So. Portland Fire Dept. Military Honors were rendered by the Air Force Honor Guard of Bangor.
A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella was in the Parish Hall.
Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.
