Jeanne Roseanne Kenney
O'FALLON, IL -- Jeanne Roseanne Kenney, nee Gionet, 67, of O’Fallon, IL, born March 10, 1944 in Rumford, Maine, passed away at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, on October 29, 2011.
Jeanne was employed by Civil Service in the Military Housing Branch for 22 years, retiring in 2008, from Scott AFB Housing Office. Prior to her civil service work, she was employed in Credit Union Management for 13 years.
Jeanne, along with her husband, was involved in various ministries at St. Clare Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Clare Seniors, Altar Sodality and was a funeral luncheon team leader. She was an ssher coordinator and also volunteered in the parish office.
Jeanne was Valedictorian at Stephens High School, Rumford, Class of 1962. She was a member of Rumford Chamber of Commerce, Lowery Organ Club, and her local Red Hat Society.
Surviving are her devoted husband, Kenneth Kenney, whom she married December 23, 1967 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rumford; her sons, Kenneth “Butch” (wife, Gretchen Szydlowski) Kenney, Jr. of Wildwood, MO, Kevin (Winnie, nee Edwards) Kenney of O’Fallon; her three grandchildren, whom she adored, Liam, Anya, and Heather Kenney; her sister-in-law, Dolores, nee Tracy, Masson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henri and Lena, nee Falardeau, Gionet; her parents-in-law, George and Harriette Kenney, and brother Ted Masson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following the Mass.
Procession will depart the church at 1:30 p.m. for interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
