Clifford J. Stacey
LEWISTON -- Clifford J. Stacey, 79, of Hemlock Avenue, Mexico, died on July 24, 2013 at the Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Mexico on September 8, 1933, the son of William and Alice (Patenall) Stacey. He graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1951.
From 1952 to 1957 he served with the U.S. Navy. Clifford worked as a Millwright at Boise Cascade Paper Company in Rumford for many years until retirement.
He was a very active member of the Mexico First Baptist Church and was instrumental in creating the church’s first Christian School. He is a member of the Rumford Maine Lodge #862, B.P.O.E. and the Napoleon Ouellette Post #24, American Legion where he enjoyed playing cards; a former member of Robert Shand Post #1641, VFW.
He also enjoyed golf, cribbage, all sports especially the Red Sox and spending time with his family. He enjoyed wintering in South Carolina and summers camping on Webb Lake in Weld.
He was married in Mexico on January 1, 2000 to Marlene Moore Burgess Stacey, who survives of Mexico.
Other survivors include his daughter, Sherry McCarthy and husband, Kevin of Falmouth; sons, Brian Stacey and wife, Valerie of Sidney, and Tom Stacey and his wife, Susan of Turner; step-daughter, Kelly Burgess and husband, Peter Masterton of Windham; step-son, David Burgess and wife, Martina Arnold of Wilton; 11 grandchildren, Danny, Kelly, Sean, Katie, and Brendan McCarthy, Samantha Ware and husband, Corey, Matt Tardiff and wife, Nikki, Abbey and Travis Stacey, Spencer and Molly Masterton; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Baker.
He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Fred, George, Bobby and William; and three sisters, Hilda Sinclair, Jean Tozier, and Marge Waite.
