George M. Tripp
NEW GLOUCESTER/ELLINGTON, CT -- George M. Tripp, 78, of Ellington, beloved husband of Mary “Pat” (Doherty) Tripp, passed away at Rockville General Hospital, CT on May 17, 2011.
He was born February 10, 1933 in New Gloucester, son of the late Percy and Dolly (Tims) Tripp.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He went to trade school in Boston, enjoyed his western movies, and was an avid fan of the UConn men's and women's basketball. He worked at Chandler-Evans/Goodrich in West Hartford, CT for 42 years before retiring.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Daniel Tripp Sr. and his wife, Terri of Deerfield, NH, Kelly Ann Avery and her husband, Robert of Stafford, CT, Shawn Tripp and his wife, Linda of Ellington, CT and Karen Coté of Ellington; a brother, Percy Tripp and his wife Ann of Westbrook; a sister, Sally Turbide of Mexico; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Danny Jr., Melissa, Justin, Aislynn, Amy, Robin, Gary, Jr. and Adrianna; five great-grandchildren, Gabriell, Gage, Hunter, Kelly and Amber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Daisy Tripp, Keziah McIntyre and Lewis Tims; and his grandson, Travis Coté.
