Ardella “Ardy” Gallant

RUMFORD -- Ardella “Ardy” Gallant, 86, of Osgood Avenue, Mexico, died on November 24, 2010

at Rumford Community Home following a courageous 15-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Mexico, a daughter of Herman and Eva (Dixon) Fuller. Ardy was educated in Woodstock schools and was a graduate of Woodstock High School Class of 1941.

She was a homemaker all of her life.

Ardy married Gerald J. Gallant on May 20, 1946. Together, they celebrated 64 years of marriage and raised four children. In the early stages of her illness, Gerald lovingly cared for her at home.

She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, and a member of the Mexico Mothers Craft Club.

Ardy enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking, knitting, listening to BB King, and preparing

Sunday dinner for the family for many years.

Surviving are her husband, Gerald J. Gallant of Rumford; two sons, David G. Gallant Sr. of Rumford, and Chris W. Gallant and wife, Joann of Turner; two daughters, Jo-Anne Pillsbury and husband, Phil of Vienna, and Colleen Kirksey and husband, David of Weld; two sisters, Marjorie Fuller of South Paris, and Rachael Parent of Buxton; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Maxine Lovejoy and Evannah Giroux; two brothers,

Lloyd Fuller and infant, Lysander Fuller; a son-in-law, Steve Hargreaves; and step-mother, Bessie Fuller.

The family would like to thank the Rumford Community Home for the wonderful care they have given to Ardy over the last nine years.
