Edith S. Robichaud
MEXICO -- Edith S. Robichaud, 85, longtime resident of Mexico, died on December 29, 2010 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Becky Robichaud, following a brief illness.
She was born in Dexter on November 15, 1925, a daughter of Jesse and Vonnie (Awalt) Smith. Edith moved to Mexico at the age of seven and was educated in local schools. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and was class Valedictorian.
She married Ernest Robichaud on June 19, 1947. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. After her marriage, she was secretary to the principal at Stephens High School for many years.
She later was employed with her son and daughter-in-law at Rita’s Laundry in Rumford, where she made many friends.
Edith was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She was a member of Webb River Valley ATV Club and enjoyed the monthly luncheon meetings.
Edith always loved attending luncheons and gatherings with family and friends. She especially loved her camp at Garland Pond when her kids were young and in her retirement years she enjoyed her camp at Brettun’s Pond.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Robichaud of Carthage; three sons, David P. Robichaud and wife, Carol of Sebring, FL, John A. Robichaud and wife. Della of Rumford, and Peter A. Robichaud and wife, Becky of Carthage; grandchildren, Kevin Robichaud and wife, Wendy, Craig Robichaud and wife, Lisa, Dwinal Randall, Joshua Hayes and Megan Robichaud: great-grandchildren, Kolby Robichaud, Kelcey
Robichaud, Kirsten Robichaud, Brittany Robichaud and Danielle Robichaud; a special nephew, James Hagen and wife, Kathy, and their daughter, Kelly and her husband, Carl, and their daughter, Isabel; and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sons, Paul A. Robichaud in 1972, and Richard L. Robichaud in 1994; four sisters, Leora French Hagen, Alma Richards, Martha Reynolds Awalt and Cybil Smith; and two brothers, Alton Smith and Floyd Smith.
