Ileane “YaYa” Virgin

CARTHAGE -- Ileane “YaYa” Virgin, 83, of Carthage, died on December 10, 2010 at the Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was born on October 5, 1927 in Syracuse, New York.

Ileane married Wallace Virgin on February 5, 1951 and they had three children together.

She worked at General Electric and then became a wonderful homemaker.

Ileane loved her grandbabies Brielle and Jazmine very much and “raised” a number of children in the town of Carthage and loved them all.

Her hobbies and likes were bingo, playing cards, and kismet, making candies, and enjoying her family and friends.

She is survived by her long time companion, Donald Houghton; her daughter, Mary Virgin-Brooks and husband, Carl; her son, Steven Virgin and companion, Amanda Chase; two brothers, Charles and John Crozier; a sister, Jean Crozier; many nieces and nephews; and one special neighbor, Debbie Swett.

She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Wallace Virgin; sisters, Elizabeth Blenn, Frances Allen, and her twin sister, Kathleen Bennett.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Auger and Dr. Hart and the staff at Glenridge; you were angels.

Spring interment will be in New Newman Cemetery in Carthage. If so desired, contributions in Ileane’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Maine, Chapter 170, U.S. Route One, Ste. 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
