John J. Lacroix

RUMFORD -- John J. Lacroix, 92, of Pine Street died on January 6, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Maynard, MA on August 29, 1918, a son of Arthur J. and Theresa A. (Shanahan) Lacroix.

John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged.

He was employed in the maintenance department with Lincoln Sudbury School system in Sudbury, MA for many years. John was a member of the VFW in Hudson, MA and the American Legion in Rumford.

He enjoyed doing carpentry and woodworking. He was also an avid gardener and loved deep sea fishing.

The family would like to offer a special thank you Grandson Terrance Cahill for all of his help and support.

Surviving are two sons, John J. Lacroix, Jr. of Portland, OR, and David B. Lacroix and wife, Marguerite E. of Orange, MA; two daughters, Lorraine Ann McCormick of Avon Park, FL and Mary J. Cahill of Waynesboro, PA; a sister, Ann Beavis of Cary, NC; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his wife, Ethel (Tetreault) Lacroix in 2000.

At John’s request there will be no services. Private interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Westborough, MA in the spring. If so desired contributions in John’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association, Headquarters 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400 Waltham, MA 02451-1991.
