Larry A. Withey

ITHACA, NY -- Larry A. Withey, 51, of Ithaca, NY, formerly of Bethel, passed away at his home on Jan. 29, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Port Hueneme, CA on May 26, 1959, son of the late Rollis Withey and Janet (Foster) Withey. He attended schools in Cornish.

Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and was proud to have served in the 82nd Airborne. He worked hard throughout his life, primarily as a coast to coast truck driver, logging a million and a half accident-free miles, something he enjoyed bragging about. He was extremely knowledgeable about directions, locations and ways to get around. He was known as "the human road map."

Larry loved tinkering on trucks, remodeling houses and took pride in his large DVD collection. He was a wonderful, caring and compassionate father, son and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

He is survived by his mother, Janet (Foster) Withey of Cornish; daughter, Stephanie Thompson and husband, Jason, and Larry's grandson, Ryan of Bryant Pond; son, Joshua Withey and his fiancee, Melissa Stone of Ithaca; brothers, Gary and wife, Nancy of Cornish, Rodney and wife, Sondra of Greenwood, Duane and wife, Rebecca of Buxton; sister, Debra and husband, Joseph of Copperas Cove, TX; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his pal and best friend, Gixmo.

Larry was predeceased by his father, Rollis; his brother, Kevin; and his grandson, Gabriel Allen Withey, who was born and passed away on Jan. 28, 2011.

A spring service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Kezar Falls.
