Rumford Eagles hold best Child Advocacy Day
To the Editor:
I recently returned from Orlando, Florida where the Eagles held their 2011 Grand International Eagles Convention the week of July 10th.
While there, I had the honor of being present when the winner of the 2011 Eagles grand prize for hosting the best Child Advocacy Day for 2011 was announced. It gave me great pleasure as I was the chairman for this event to hear that Rumford, Maine was this year's winner.
For this feat, we were awarded a nice plaque along with a $3,000 check that will benefit our local youth. I will be holding a meeting in the near future for the folks that participated in this event so they can have a say in how we can best use these funds for our youth.
Also at this time we are preparing for next year's event and how we can make it even better. This is a community
event and anyone with any ideas or would like to participate are encouraged to attend.
