The Chamber Chatter

Hello River Valley! March did not quite come in like a lion but February sure left as one. My brother-in-law continually states during the winter, “pitchers and catchers report in 85 days, 84 days, etc. But spring training is here now! Yes!

Rumford native and acclaimed singer/songwriter Rebecca Martin will be performing at 49 Franklin on March 10. It is a benefit concert for Hope Association. Rebecca and her husband world –renowned jazz bassist Larry Grenadier will go on stage at 7 p.m. The doors at 49 Franklin will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for this special concert event will be $10 until March 9 available at Bartash’s and All That Jazz on Congress St in Rumford or online at www.49franklin.com. Tickets will be $12 the day of the concert.

Rebecca has appeared on the David Letterman Show, The Conan O’Brien Show and the Rosie O’Donnell show to name just a few. It is obvious that these are generous, thoughtful people who are donating their time and amazing talents for such a worthy cause. For more information call 369-0129. This will be the first time Rebecca has performed in her hometown since she left for the Big Apple. Please make an effort to attend not only to support the Hope Association but to enjoy an evening of great music and fun.

Just a little trivia for you all but the Rumford Information Center (manned by the dedicated area volunteers) served 6,493 guests at the center last year. These included some form Germany, Australia, the United Kingdom, Israel and Taiwan to name a few. I know from personal experience that all of these travelers were appreciative of the great service provided to them by our volunteers. They loved the area and their number one question was,"What time can we see a moose?” That was a hard one to answer because none of our local moose wear watches or carry cell phones!
