The Chamber Chatter

I attended the meeting for the River Valley Fourth of July Celebration Committee so my thoughts are on summer. This group of unselfish volunteers is planning quite a celebration for Independence Day.

Plans are in the works for fun and games for kids of all ages at the Hosmer Field Complex. Other activities are in the planning stages and I will have more information soon.

All this will be followed by another outstanding fireworks display. The committee is asking for any donations to help with the cost of the fireworks. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. You can send your donation to RVCC, 10 Bridge St. Rumford, ME 04276. Just notate that the donation is for the River Valley Fourth of July Celebration. Young and old alike enjoy exciting fireworks so the committee would like to once again provide a great show for one and all.

On a personal note I would like to congratulate John Bernard on his recent announced retirement from Mountain Valley as athletic director. John is a former Pinto classmate and close friend and I wish him all the best but I will miss him when the Falcons are playing "Friday night under the lights” at Chet Bulger Field. Good luck John.

The River valley Healthy Communities Coalition has decided to commence their “100 miles in 100 days” program with a 5k run/walk on May 15th in Rumford. The proceeds from this event will benefit the American Heart Association plus the benefit of a healthy activity. There are many sponsorship levels that will include some great exposure for any business. The first 100 registered will get a t-shirt to commemorate the first of hopefully an annual event.

There is much more information and signup sheets provided if you visit rvhcc@gwi.net or go to the official race website: http://www.active.com/running/rumford-me/healthy-hearts-5k-runwalk-2011?....

If you would like more information on any of the Chamber’s events, call the office at 364-3241 or email info@rivervalleychamber.com.
