To the Editor:
Thanks to the Rumford Parks Department for making our fourth annual hockey weekend possible!
We had a great time, and again this year brought out nearly 50 people between Friday and Saturday night to play hockey. We were blessed with a short burst of cold weather and, of course, healthy bodies. We don't know who won; darks or lights, but I'm sure whatever scores need to be settled will be back on the ice next year - in a sportsmanlike manner that is.
My buddy Simon, a sales manager from upstate Vermont and a goalie at this event, said he looks forward to it all year, and I have to say it's on my mind more than once throughout the offseason. Having my son, Solomon and my brother, Tim, along with us, and being with the rest of my family in Rumford made this trip especially delightful for me.
The participants range in age and talent but everyone seems to get involved and have a great time. Thanks a lot to the city of Rumford for welcoming us back every year and a big applause to the rink maintenance crew for going over and above the call of duty because they love to see the rink utilized!
