A discredit to our "scenic" valley
To the Editor:
Canton Carthage and Dixfield -- You three towns and Roxbury are going to be a discredit to our "scenic" valley.
Governors Baldacci and King saw money made before our wilderness is saved. If anybody could get inside this wind industry and uncover the scams of government mandates and subsidies, you would be red-faced in shame.
Carthage town fathers led a special town meeting with no regard for “handicapped” and vital information was withheld.
The act of persons counting votes, with a stake in vote turn-out, I think is illegal. The wind moratorium vote in Carthage was 42-48 – it was a close vote.
Canton had a special town meeting on a wind ordinance for the town. I heard that a long time select person moved the question at this meeting. I also heard there needed to be a two-thirds majority vote to pass an ordinance. Both infractions were addressed at a select board and citizens were told, sorry we did wrong but you needed to correct us at the town meet. Too late, sorry, we did break the rules…you missed it.
So why don’t the citizens of Canton petition for another vote?
Dixfield , you need a moratorium. Once DEP accepts the application – home does not rule anymore.
