Is hydro green?

To the Editor:

John Patrick is your senator. He has stated he believes in renewables. We all want to do our share in saving the planet and I am sure we all reduce and reuse at home.

My concern is the experimental stages of renewables – whether it is tidal, solar or wind. Green energy is bankrupting Europe. Google “law suit wind” and see for yourself the millions of people harmed by side effects of these large scale generators.

Then ask yourself is hydro green?

Lifting a 100 MW ban on hydro will allow Maine the option of Hydro Quebec. More importantly, if Massachusetts lifted the 100 MW ban in their state, they could bypass raping Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont’s mountains.

Boston could be one of the greenest cities on earth. Canada has already back-filled their real estate with hydro dams and with the threat of oceans rising there is sure to always be a water supply.

Ask your senator their stand on renewables and do not allow the sound bite "Get us off foreign oil" in your conversation. Maine uses negligible oil to generate electricity.
