Voters found they can say "no"

To the Editor:

I am so glad that through the efforts of Marjorie Richard, writing letters to the editor, talking to anyone when the opportunity came, you have found you can say "no" to the recommendations of the selectmen on the referendum warrant.

I understand that the selectmen think that people who voted the two articles down did not understand what they were doing. Wrong!

Everyone that voted for or against the articles, period, did know what they said and what they were doing. The thing that is not understood is there was a "no" vote on their recommendation. You all voted and approved a budget that gives the town the funds they asked for to run the rest of the town for the 2012-13 fiscal year.

Now what they have to do is come back with a reasonable recommendation on the Mexico Recreation budget program and have a special election to vote on the referendum article.
