The Basket Lady
I finally got to meet Mr. Fred Stone, a genuine everyday hero and now I know why so many of the residents at the Concorde Apartments think so highly of him.
Fred Stone is clearly a giver and he gives the very best of gifts, himself. Thank you for a job well done, Fred!
I had a wonderfully brief visit with Barbara (good friend of Dot Benedix and Dot Sanchas); and she shared that she put together a comfort basket that really brought a ray of sunshine to a lady recently.
Bring on some more of those rays of sunshine, Barbara - we need a big, bright, smile right about now.
Seems like this is the week for Barbara’s…Barbara “Jean” donated baby blankets and more seat cushions that she stitched together from her sewing machine for the chairs in the Rumford Falls Auditorium.
Barbara Morse has returned to Maine after spending a couple of months in Florida, the Sunshine State; and she’s going to drop off some homemade breads for our annual Easter baskets that I give out to local seniors.
Sandy Witas, with the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, presented some wonderful news to the Moving Freely participants about the upcoming community garden as well as information about being a volunteer (plant a row) or to sign up for delicious and nutritious veggies grown fresh from God’s Green Earth.
If you’d like more information about the community garden or have other questions about the educational services that RVHCC provides to the local schools and citizens, call 364-7408, and ask for Sandy Witas, Carol Emery or Patty Duguay.
Friends, Earth Day will be observed on April 22 this year.
However, everyday is a good day to be mindful of how we treat our precious planet and all of the living things that gives us sustenance and life.
Please do your part locally by picking up that bottle thrown out on the side of the street or recycling your edible garbage into compost piles for your garden.
Thank you for a kindness shown to the following angels in training:
Dr. Ghotra, SRHCC; Louise Stickney; Mindy Worthley; Sandy Witas; Ellen Snow; Barbara “Jean” Smith; Judy Tabb; Jim Bouchard; Gail Thompson; Barbara Morse; and Joe-man at Jake’s Garage.
Remember the theme: Get a basket. Give an Easter basket.
We miss you every day, Dot Sanchas! Until then, smile and live in the present.
