The Basket Lady
I looked at the calendar twice this morning to make sure that it was indeed June first In the Good Humor Town.
In a recent conversation with Ann Kezal, the subject of time came up and how fast it goes by and to make a point I said, “Once May is over the summer will go by in a blur.”Ann gasped then replied, “That means we’ll have to get ready all over again for winter.” We had a big laugh.
A lady walked up to me in Wal-Mart watching me squint my eyes as I struggled to read the teeny tiny list of ingredients in a loaf of whole grain bread and asked, “Have you stopped writing the angels in training column?”
Distracted, I looked up from the loaf of bread, “oh,” You must mean the Basket Lady column and before I could finish, she put up her hand to interrupt me, “No, I mean the angels in training column.”
I put the loaf of bread back on the shelf, acknowledged her question, thanked her for bringing it to my attention and then guaranteed her that the angels in training would be in the weekly column. Before we resumed shopping, we shook hands and shared a big laugh.
