The Basket Lady
The change of season is soon approaching. It brings with it a new academic year for students and teachers and my favorite sport of all seasons, football of course!
Zucchini is plentiful and the aroma of home baked bread will soon fill our senses and our tummies, too.
The Rumford Performing Arts is gearing up for a foot stomping event with the LeBlanc Family the latter part of September and a relaxing canoe paddle down the Androscoggin river is on the horizon for October 1st.
October is Domestic Violence Prevention month and The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 24 are showing their appreciation with a fundraiser to benefit the Safe Voices organization. Safe Voices mission is to support and empower those affected by Domestic Violence and engage the community in creating social change. What a great way to start October by showing support and appreciation of a most worthy and valued organization. I can already taste those yummy pumpkin rolls, sweet breads and melt in your mouth whoopee pies.
Something that is always nice to give and be on the receiving end, is appreciation. A big thank you of appreciation goes out to the following angels in training:
Bruce Farrin, Jr., Jim Rinaldo, Kevin Saisi, Linda French, Kim Sequoia, Jolene Lovejoy, Tricia Thurston, Doris Martineau, Debbie DeRoche, Jo Gaudet, Erika Bickford and Alicia Yahn, Diane Gallagher, Tammy Garcia, Carlo Puiia, and Jim Nicols and his crew of local heroes that stepped forward to bridge our community with hope and caring. To quote Jim, “If all of us did something like this, it would be a much better place to live.”
Keep the universal flow of giving and receiving alive and thriving for everyone’s sake.
Kindness not only counts but it adds up! We miss you every day, Dot Sanchas! Remember the theme: Get a basket- Give a basket. Smile every day and try to live in the present.
