The Basket Lady

In the Good Humor Town, Thanksgiving Day will be here before you can say, “Pass the turkey and dressing, please.” There’s something in every season, in every day, to celebrate with Thanksgiving.

It’s wonderful to know that the Praise Assembly of God in Rumford will be providing the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal for those who may be in need or for those who will be alone. Thank you very kindly, good folks of Praise Assembly.

Basket lady would like to share a recipe for Curried Turkey. Mucho delicious!

2 cups cooked turkey breast, diced ¼ cup raisins

1 ½ stalks celery, chopped

¼ cup peanuts, finely chopped

½ cup plain nonfat yogurt

2 tbsp. light mayonnaise

½ tsp. curry powder

Fresh-ground black pepper to taste.

Combine ingredients and serve. Makes 4 servings.

The all-volunteer Rumford Performing Arts Committee is eagerly extending an invitation to community businesses, schools, churches and individuals in the River Valley to be a part of the fourth annual Festival of Trees celebration by displaying your decorated (artificial) Christmas tree in the Rumford Falls Auditorium.

There is no cost associated with displaying your tree -- your imagination and a few friends are all that’s needed. The festivities will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the Rumford Falls Auditorium with free admission for everyone.

There’s going to be Christmas surprises for the kids and Santa Claus will arrive in style. There’s going to be prizes given out to the top three tree winners.

Please plan to make this year’s Festival of Trees one of your holiday stops in the Good Humor Town. Please contact Jim Rinaldo, committee chairman, at 364-2983, to request your application and to reserve your spot today.

Remember, kindness not only counts but it adds up! We miss your kindness Dot Sanchas, every day. Until then, smile and live in the present.
