Opposed to sale of land
To the Editor:
Recently I became alrmed to learn that the town had been approached to sell two parcels of land along the Androscoggin to be used to build a zip line. One parcel is land behind the Rumford Public Library, which includes the Chisholm Walking Trail and a portion of the library parking lot.
I believe strongly that our job as responsible ciitzens today is to preserve and protect the gift that was bestowed many decades ago.
The library represented opportunity then as it does today by offering a window to the world in a settling pristinely peaceful and wildly wonderful at the foot of the famous falls.
My vote at town meeting will be to oppose a sale of land that would negatively affect the operation and environment of the library.
