Support for Sheryl Briggs
To the Editor:
As state representative serving District 93 in the 123rd, 124th, and 125th Maine Legislature, I served on the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
During my most recent tenure, I voted (and passed) legislation to restore the white-tailed deer population and improve Maine's wildlife economy and heritage; to restore the deer herd in certain wildlife management districts in Maine; to reduce deer predation; to protect native landlocked salmon fisheries from invasive fish species; to encourage fishing for individuals with disabilities; to allow a portion of snowmobile registration fees to be used for repair of trail-grooming equipment. I also supported other legislation on IF&W but too many to mention.
I also received endorsement from SAM with a scorecard of Grade: A. I am an avid and strong supporter of Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and have been very active in my community. As I have worked at the Mexico town office for the past 10 years and issue hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV licenses, I listen and experience first-hand every day what the issues are from everyone who comes into the office.
I'm always sharing these experiences with the IF&W committee because I realize the value of the current issues of the day and it's very important that the IF&W committee, and entire legislature understands it, too. I love and enjoy all outdoor recreational activities especially hunting, fishing snowmobiling, ATVing, and camping. Our natural resources are vital to our economy and it's critical that we continue to prosper and grow.
I ask for your vote on November 6 so I may continue to fight for our outdoor heritage.
