Chamber Chatter

Do you have daily parenting struggles and wonder if there is a better way, here’s the answer, yes there is! “Active Parenting Now” is a course being presented at the Chisholm Center on 126 York St. in Rumford.

This will take place on Thursday, March 28, every Thursday in April and finish on Thursday, May 2 (9:30am to 11:30am). It is for parents of children ages 5 to 12. Presented will be videos, activities and group discussions.

You learn how to: use discipline techniques, communicate with your children, teach responsibility, encourage self-esteem, hold family meetings and cope with difficult topics such as drugs, violence and sex. The cost is $10 (some families can qualify for scholarships and free waivers). For more information call Melissa Wakefield (Community Concepts) at 739-6544.

If you haven’t had a chance to read “Hope Connection”, the monthly newsletter of the Hope Association you should do so. It has information about the organization and great pictures of all the fun activities that they do with their clients. You can view it on their website: www.hopeassociation.org.

Obviously, we don’t have as many visitors to the Rumford Information Center through the winter but those that have come to use the facilities and gather information all comment about how beautiful this area is! With the fresh fallen snow and the mountains it is quite breath-taking! We are lucky to have such a view and a nice facility for our visitors.
