The Chamber Chatter
Once again the River Valley Healthy Community Coalition and Ways to Wellness (A Local Healthy Maine Partnership) are sponsoring “free” Off-Premise Responsible Beverage Sales Training from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mexico Police Department, 3 Recreation Dr. in Mexico. This RBS training is so important because it provides understanding of Maine laws, provides skills necessary to identify intoxicated clientele and minors, and provides business owners the proper tools to implement a successful and responsible policy. It also may lower their insurance rates! With regard to underage drinking, the community perception that your business is a part of the solution and not the problem is priceless! Registration is required. Call Sandy Witas at 364-7408 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Healthy Hearts 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. It is a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) loop course that starts and finishes at River valley Healthy Communities Coalition located at 94 River Rd. in Rumford. The route goes through residential areas with minimal traffic. You can register online for $20 (until May 16th). The first 75 registered will receive t-shirts. All proceeds benefit Maine harvest for Hunger. Medals will be awarded to all top three places in the following categories: runners-men and women ages 17 and under, 18 to 49, 50 and over, and the top three walkers. The official website to register is @ www.rvhcc.org. FMI email Sandy Witas @ email@example.com.
