Things are looking up. The weather is getting better, the Red Sox are starting to get some pitching and timely hitting and I had a chance to hit some dimpled spheres at the driving range!
As the funds are arriving for the fireworks display this year the River Valley Fourth of July Celebration Committee (from now on known as the RVJ4CC) at the last meeting discussed the days activity plans. The plan is to start some things (still in the planning stages) at 5 p.m. or so. Eventually it will lead up to a tribute to our troops and the U.S. just before the fireworks display. There will probably be an opportunity for community organizations to set up tables or booths or something of that nature to service the hopefully large crowds on that day.
We will be having another meeting soon so if you are interested in discussing the possibility of your organization being a part of that, call me at 364-3241 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary is having a mother’s Day Jewelry Sale at the Hospital on May 2nd (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and May 3rd (7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) in Conference Room A. These will be marked 30 to 75% below department store prices! Open to the public, this is an indesign fundraising event and will feature the main event where everything is $2 to $10 and special events where items are individually priced below suggested retail!
I attended the Business After Hours Event that we sponsored at 60 Lowell St. for the many businesses that are located in that building (behind Dunkin Donuts). Sue Ellen Richardson from WMCA was the host and she was very gracious and informative. The suites, rooms, etc. were very impressive to see.
If you can attend an open to the public Business After Hours, such as the one scheduled on May 19th at Stanley’s Furniture, you should do so as the merchants provide a lot of information plus many extras such as door prizes, refreshments, etc.
If you would like more information on any of the Chamber’s events, call the office at 364-3241 or email email@example.com.
