Chisholm’s Tavern, located at 136 Congress St. in Rumford, is sponsoring a fundraiser for the benefit of the River Valley fireworks.

On Friday, Chisholm’s will be featuring local and talented musicians Jamie Virgin and Gary Petrie from 8 p.m. until midnight. The $5 entry fee at the door will be donated to the fireworks display taking place on July 4th. It will be a great time and it is a worthy cause. Many thanks to Paul and Sandy in advance for sponsoring this event.

If you have the chance to stop by the Rumford Information Center, you will notice a video monitor that is running a DVD visible through the front window. This DVD promotes the River Valley and the businesses and communities of the valley. This was a collaboration of the Envisions group and the River Valley Growth Council. It is professionally done with Cherri Crockett appearing (donated her time) and narrating throughout. Steve Casey has volunteered his time to set up the program and assure that it is working properly. Another great way to promote the River Valley and its resources! If you have the time and would like to become a volunteer at the Information Center (ask the volunteers it is fun and rewarding), please contact me at the River Valley Chamber of Commerce office (located in the information center).

There will be a bean Hole Bean Supper on the 4th of July (rain or shine) starting at 11a.m. sharp at the Rumford Information Center. Join us for authentic: “New England Style” Bean Hole Beans, ham, coleslaw, breads and desserts cost $10 for adults seniors and children under 14 is $6. They will have pints and quarts available to go! Proceeds benefit Maine Harvest for Hunger. This has been organized by the University of Maine Oxford County Master Gardener Volunteers with generous support from the Bangor Savings Bank. Sometime during this event the Lucky Duck Race will take place in Bean Brook behind the Information Center building. If you would like to purchase any of the Lucky Ducks $5 each with a chance to win $500 (1st), $250 (2nd) or $150 (3rd), please contact me here at the office.
