The Chamber Chatter
After a two-week hiatus I am back. Two weeks with my family (including my 15-month-old grandson) was fantastic!
I attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for the new Amato’s coming to the River Valley. The location is good one, right on Route 2 on Lincoln Avenue. Dave and Pat Duguay along with Steve and Sandra Roderick are the owners of the new endeavor and they had many positive things to say about the community and the officials who helped them to achieve this undertaking. We were invited to say a few words. All welcomed the partners and the new business to Rumford. Local businesses have been hired to do the excavation and construction of the facility. As soon as the groundbreaking ceremony was completed A.J. Levesque continued on with the excavation process. The target date for the Amato’s of Rumford Grand Opening is Nov. 1!
Once again I urge you that if you have not visited the Rumford Information Center do so when you have a chance. I had a good friend stop over to visit with a volunteer (thanks for the note on my desk!) and she could not get over the nice building, picnic facilities and view of the Falls (although dry right now) that is available through the back windows here at the Center. From my desk in the back I hear nothing but compliments about the facility and the community when visitors stop by to speak with our volunteers.
It should be an exciting race on August 21st as the 9th annual Dixfield Bicentennial 5K Race/Walk takes place. If you would like more information about the race, call me at the 364-3241 or email info@rivervalleychamber.com. You can register for the race on line at www.active.com.
The summer is slipping away and with school starting soon the Chamber is also planning the Christmas in The Valley activities culminating with the CITV Craft Fair on December 3rd at Mountain Valley High School. It was the first time I was involved last year and it is quite an undertaking and great fun!
