The Rumford Pumpkin Fest on the Island will take place on Saturday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be numerous activities on the Island that day including: a scavenger hunt, picture taking with the Great Pumpkin, a pumpkin pancake breakfast, WOXO Radio Live remote, cookie walk, pumpkin painting and seed spitting contest. The local Island businesses will have decorated and a trophy will be awarded to the winner on that day. (judging will take place from Oct. 13-17).

Hope Association will present “Joe the Music Man” on Oct. 26 at their facility at 85 Lincoln Ave in Rumford. This is a costume optional Happy Halloween Dance and will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. It is open to the public with refreshments available. Donations will be accepted at the door.

49 Franklin is presenting Randy Judkins (local talent) “Comedy with Character” on October 21 at 7 p.m. Most people are familiar with the many talents of Randy and it will be a great show. Advance tickets are available at Bartash’s and All That Jazz on Congress St and are $10 (or www.49franklin.com). Tickets will be $12 at the door. On that same day Randy will have a workshop for performers titled, “10 Performing Skills Every Human Should Have” at 4 p.m. on that same day for $25. Scot is offering a deal of $30 for the show and the work shop together! Call Scot at 369-0129 for more information.

The River Valley Rotary Club is seeking young professionals who work with special needs individuals for a once-in-a-lifetime professional exchange to West Africa. A group of special needs professionals including social workers, special educational teachers and educational technicians along with direct support professionals will travel to Nigeria next spring (April 12 to May 13). They will work with children and adults who are physically handicapped or mentally challenged.
