The Roxbury Fire Relief organization is having a snowmobile raffle ride on Saturday, open to all snowmobilers. Registration takes place at the Roxbury Town Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. ($5 per ticket). There will be drawings at 1 p,m. A lunch of, spaghetti, cole slaw, bread, a drink and a dessert will be served. For more information, call Ann Carver at 364-8478.
The Mountain Valley Recreational Basketball League, in conjunction with the Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters, will host the 14th annual Invitational Basketball Tournament from March 22-24. Due to the fact that Easter is on March 31, the tourney has been moved up. There are two divisions, A & B with eight teams in each division. All games are played at Mountain Valley high school and middle school. The tournament is a round robin with playoff format on Sunday. Each team will play a minimum of three games and as many as five. This will include shooting contests, trophies and giveaways throughout. The Mountain Valley Boosters will be on hand to sell food, drinks snacks and apparel all weekend. There will be local entertainment on Friday and Saturday Nights with food and drink specials.
This is the former Mike’s/Sarge’s Pub ‘N’ Grub Tournament that was held in Rangeley back in the 80’s (seems so long ago). You will witness really great basketball if you attend these games (admission free). All profits benefit the Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters as donations will be accepted at the door.
