Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 River Valley Chamber Annual Dinner Awards. They are as follows; Business Person of the Year- Chip Towle (Towle’s Corner Store), Volunteer of the Year– Peggy Briggette, Customer Service Award- Mt. View EyeCare Staff, Non-Profit of the Year- Black Mountain of Maine.

You can join us in the celebration at our Annual Dinner & Awards Presentation on April 30th, 2011 at Black Mountain of Maine in Rumford. The theme for this years’ gala is a 50’s Sock Hop and it will be catered by Black Mountain of Maine. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending to honor these award recipients. Contact me at the Chamber office, 364-3241 to make your reservation today. Cost for the event is $22 per person please let me know if you are interested.

The donations for the Fourth of July fireworks are starting to arrive at the office. The River Valley Fourth of July Celebration Committee is hard at work spreading the word and soliciting donations for the cost of the fireworks. Once again if you would like to make a (tax deductible) donation please send it to the RVCC office at 10 Bridge St. in Rumford. I will gladly mail you a receipt if so desired. (please notate that in your correspondence).

As I learn more at the Committee meetings concerning the fireworks and the other planned events I will communicate the information to you through the Chamber Chatter.

Western Maine Community Action will be presenting a “Business After Hours” event sponsored by the River Valley Chamber of Commerce on April 20th. This event is opened to the public and runs from 5 to 7 p.m. It will include a tour of the entire building at 60 Lowell St. in Rumford which encompasses the business offices of; WMCA Career Center, River Valley Growth Council, Child Development Services, Jim Smith LCPC-c, Safe Voices, Curves, Community Dental and the Pennacook Art Center. There will be refreshments and drawings. We look forward to seeing you there.
