Chamber Chatter
I updated you last week about the “Walk of Danger” being performed at the 4Th of July Celebration but more plans are coming to light as there will also be a Magic Show, many children’s activities (face painting, animal balloons to name a couple), live music with local talents, Jamie Virgin, Gary Petrie and Jim Austin looking as though they will make appearances.
The Chamber is having its Lucky Duck Race at the Swift River this year since the celebration is in that complex. There are vendors being lined up to provide food, drinks, assorted “Treasure” items plus much more. The community seems very excited now that the fireworks are back in the River Valley.
Deb DeRoche, who designed and made a patriotic handbag and than sold raffle tickets with the proceeds going toward the fireworks, told me that she really enjoys the fireworks and she wanted to make her contribution to the cause. Soon we will be announcing the Sky Rocket, Roman Candles, Bottle Rockets and Sparklers level sponsors of the fireworks. These are all very generous and helpful donations. If you would like to donate to the fireworks please send your donation to me at the RVCC address listed below.
The River Valley 5K race/walk, which is scheduled on June 25th will start and finish at the Hosmer Field Complex on the track surrounding Chet Bulger Field. It should be a great race, sponsored by the River Valley Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. It will include items provided by our other dedicated sponsors, tee-shirts, goody bags, etc.
The Maine Woods Tourism Training Initiative (MWTTI) is offering trainings in the River Valley in Rumford on June 28th. The training is titled, “Give ‘Em The Pickle”: Delivering outstanding customer service. Please contact me if interested. The same training is being offered in South Paris on June 27th.
Busy time of year! I have my daughter getting married this week and my son in October. It’s all about family and being with all of them. That’s what it is all about!
