Even though it is only September it won’t be long before the “Leaf Peepers” start traveling through the area. The amount of visitors that stop at the Rumford Information Center during that period of time is quite impressive. Bus loads will be traveling through the White Mountains and the Western Mountain Area to enjoy one of nature’s most beautiful displays.
The third leg of the River Valley Area Rotary/River Valley Chamber of Commerce 5K run/walk Series will take place at Black Mountain of Maine (trail race) on October 16th as part of the BMOM Oktoberfest. Please call/email if you need information concerning this race.
Be on the lookout for more information about the Oktoberfest sponsored by the River Valley Area Rotary Club and the Hope Association taking place at the Hope Association building on Lincoln Avenue on October 15th. The River Valley Chamber of Commerce will be present and will have great raffle items (including a wagon filled with an assortment of fabulous gifts) on display that will be raffled at the Craft fair mentioned below.
A reminder that if you are a non-profit organization and would like to take part in a great fundraiser, contact me for information about the Chamber’s 2011 “Stash for Cash” program.
The 2011 Christmas in the Valley Craft fair will take place on December 3rd at Mountain Valley High School. We are asking that if anyone would like to bake cookies for our famous “cookie walk” it would be greatly appreciated. The proceeds go toward Christmas in the Valley scholarship fund for Mountain Valley and Dirigo High School seniors next year. We are asking bakers to bake two dozen cookies (or more) of any kind and drop them off at Franklin Savings Bank (Congress Street) on Friday, December 2nd before 3 p.m. We sold 75 dozen and would like to beat that amount this year!
Please note a correction that the Western Maine ATV Toy Run is September 24th not September 25th -– Western Maine ATV Club’s Toys for Tots Ride. Go to the Roxbury Riders ATV Club website for more information.
