Cookies! If you enjoy baking (even if you don’t) the Christmas in the Valley Craft Fair Committee is in need of cookies of any kind to sell at the CITV Craft Fair on December 3. You can make holiday themed cookies but we will accept any type of cookie that you choose to bake. Please bring them anytime to the Franklin Savings Bank in Rumford.
They have a large freezer so you do not have to wait until the final gun to baked and deliver them. At the CITV Craft Fair we hold a highly anticipated cookie walk with proceeds going to the Christmas in the Valley scholarship fund that benefits Mountain Valley and Dirigo High School seniors each year.
The Pennacook Falls continue to be a source of great interest as the visitors are amazed by the volume of water that they see. Many are return leaf peepers from years past and have never seen the falls quite so impressive looking and have made that comment to the volunteers.
Speaking of volunteers, we will soon be honoring our Rumford Information Center volunteers with a supper/celebration for their dedication and for their knowledge of the River Valley (and beyond).
Hope Association’s (formerly Rumford Armory) Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Admission is free. There will be crafts, children’s games, books, jewelry, raffles (look for the Christmas in the Valley table with our gift wagon raffle), hand-knit and baked goods. Have fun at the Oktoberfest. I would be in attendance but I will have many family and friends for out of town (and state) for my son’s wedding at 49 Franklin.
49 Franklin will feature the improvisation group, “Teacher’s Lounge Mafia” on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. and the Bo-Dean Jimmy-Don Baker’s Magic Hoedown & Thrill Show on October 22 at 6:30 p.m.
