Going back to basics

To the Editor:

Has it ever occurred to you that the United States was and is still a free country?

The American Legion is one part of this great country that works hard to maintain a lot of that freedom. Our soldiers are the mainstay of the Legion and its entities. We work hard and realize that many get to comfortable in their positions.

That's when a lot of the Legion's fail to be a part of their communities and they settle on one thing to maintain their being. Going back to basics has brought our post back to the community and the veterans. We provide needed information to all veterans, caring about appointments, paper work for pensions, and being there to let all know the hall is open to many things of interest. To all veterans, if you didn't get your medals or ribbons from Uncle Sam, contact Ed Ellis at 357-6437 and give name, service branch and time in. We'll make sure your recognized in November.

We help any and all who went and served WWI family members, WWII veterans and families, Korea, Vietnam and all wars up to date.

We have public suppers again, nickel bingo twice a week and have an auction coming up.

To all that are members you cards are in for the new year. Legionaries, Auxiliary, S.A.L's or if you ride a motorcycle, come join a fine family.

Ed Ellis,

1st Vice Commander
