About the Legacy Foundation
To the Editor:
The Legacy Foundation and the Homeless Veterans of Maine will be receiving a good donation this year.
The Legacy Foundation is a fund which helps children of veterans who don't make it home. We, the American Legion Riders of Maine, are proud to say we have contributed to this foundation for a few years now.
This past summer, the rally in Winthrop gained some funds and we, as a Legion Rider community, raised $15,000 for this foundation.
Now the Homeless Veterans of Maine and the people behind this great cause are proud to announce that the sum of money raised is $30,000 and we are very proud to say we hope to make things even better for the veterans as they gather at the Legion posts, the area clinics and the VA Hospital.
Let us remind all of you that these service men and women need our help in getting help for all kinds of things, PTSD, medical ailments, physical ailments, and or just needs that we take for granted. It is with great pleasure to be in an outfit like the American Legion, and the Auxilary, and S.A.L's, and now the Legion Riders.
We are proud to serve those who need us the same as we needed when we first came back home from the war. I, for one, will always be there to give a hand out and up to all veterans of any war. Young or old, we all served this great country and it is with great pleasure that I serve it again as the service officer for the 5th District here in Maine.
Edward J. Ellis,
5th District Service Officer,
