Put away the negativity

To the Editor:

For many weeks now, the Rumford Board of Selectmen have been working hard on a wind turbine ordinance.

They have treated those who have disagreed with them, even those from out of town, with respect at meetings.

I have not seen the same respect for the selectmen from those who oppose wind turbines. I have seen name calling, intimidation, a negativity that gives our town a bad name in the press.

I have even seen name calling of citizens who disagree with those opposing wind power turbines. The contempt of the person who called Rumford citizens "sheeple" is akin to the bullying we are trying to stop in the schools.

We must put this negativity away if we hope to turn around the Rumford economy. We must present a positive attitude to businesses which might locate in our town.

I hope the majority of Rumford citizens will support the wind ordinance the selectman have crafted so that we can stop the bad press and continue to rebuild our economy. We need jobs.

Rumford
