Support for John Patrick
To the Editor:
Why will I vote for John Patrick as senator in District 14?
John responds to citizens. Whenever I had a suggestion or needed help with an issue, he responded to me within a day. This is a very important point for me as a citizens. We citizens all know how often we are ignored by the powers that be.
Second, John is a River Valley native who was educated right here in the valley. He knows the people is his area towns because he has lived and worked here for years. He has raised his own family right here in the valley as well.
John works at the NewPage paper mill in Rumford, was a member and president of Local 900 USW and past president of the Eagles, a volunteer at Hope Association Bingo, etc. He has given his time in voluntary support of his home town.
John is presently the Democratic Lead in the Senate on the Veterans and Legal Affairs and the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife committees. These committees relate to issues that are important to us River Valley citizens.
Despite Republican Gov. LePage and his party's promise that they would make Maine business friendly, they have turned their backs on Maine's working people, those who make Maine businesses profitable. He has turned his back on us.
Not John Patrick! He supported improving Maine's business to help Maine working families make a living wage, opposing bill which attacked the rights of working people and middle class families -- which the full legislature passed.
John also supported a bond which included investment in research and development to help Maine working people learn the high tech jobs of the future -- which the Governor vetoed.
John Patrick supports Maine working families because he is a Maine native, living in Maine, raising a family in Maine, working in Maine. He knows the problems of Maine. He knows our problems.
I hope you will vote for John Patrick to move Maine business and working families into the future. Vote for growth in the River Valley.
Tom Fallon,
Rumford
