Mrs. Charron remembered
To the Editor:
I just learned that Evelyn Charron passed away.
The obituary that I read gave only a small thumbnail sketch of a lady that made a substantial contribution to Rumford and Mexico communities. Mrs. Charron was like that, not taking credit for her many fine contributions to all of us.
I know that Mrs. Charron was instrumental in the Widows and Widower's group in Rumford, and more important to me, she was a 10-year plus member of the Oxford County ARC (now Hope Association).
Mrs. Charron rarely, if ever, missed a board meeting. She was keenly interested in the programs that supported people with disabilities, and she worked hard to ensure that the Association's programs were strong and healthy; both for the residential and day programs.
Mrs. Charron was a quiet and thoughtful board member, but when she spoke or voted for something, it was with great thought and conviction. The individuals served by the current Hope Association are stronger and richer because of fine people like Mrs. Charron who gave lots of her free time to make a wonderful difference for all of us.
